Just so you know

I have moved my blog to Escapade78.com. Don't get me wrong, I like adventures of a Texan, but Escapade has such a better meaning. I hope you will subscribe to my new blog and keep following along with me. I plan on canceling my Typepad account in about a month. Cheers!

Prague Update - Spring Edition

Yes, it is I. The adventurer of the world. Man of mystery and ambiguity. Those last descriptors only exist because I forget to write you and fill you in. So, my mistake. Time to change that. Here we go!

Dating Dilbert style

No, I do not expect you to go looking for someone like our cute cubicle worker, Dilbert. But, check out this recent posting by Scott Adams in his Dilbert Blog. He contemplates a dating site based upon two criteria. His two are listed and I am sure he will get plenty more suggestions. In fact, I suggested hair and siblings. Hopefully he will post my comment so that you can read more.

Naked again

I just finished reading the book Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble and Shel Israel. I had written before on this book a week ago. Unfortunately, as I read the book from cover to cover I found myself becoming less "Wow'd" by the content. The first few chapters convey some interesting facts about blogging and business. This was good background and interesting due to its stories. The middle few chapters were less intersting give case examples of right & wrong in the blogosphere. By the end, information seemed to be regurgitated and no longer keeping my attention.

All in all, a good read. I handed this to my father (not a blogger) and he was becoming very curious about starting one for his singles ministry at his church, but was beginning to wane from that idea as he read about the "rules of right & wrong." More geared toward folks who have not, are not familiar with blogging.

Christian Business

I have begun to find more and more folks who are becoming curious about faith and business coexisting. Here in Prague, you are believed to have surrendered all intelligence if you go to church, giving up logic in place of faith. I was really glad when I came across this posting on one of my business acquaintance's blogs. Alex Muse and I have been chatting about business for months now. Oddly enough, we both have done very similar things to this point. Enlisted in the USMC, went to The University of Texas at Austin, own our own businesses (Alex, me) and even graduated from James E. Taylor HS in Katy, TX. Then, after reading his blog posting, am glad to say that we are brothers in Christ, too.

Drawing for fun and work

I got hip to the Brad Fitzpatrick blog just a few days ago. I never imagined that drawing and creating could happen so fast. Take a look for yourself. Who knows, maybe he will do a drawing of me one day?

Naked Conversations....Not in stereo

I am reading through the hot new seller Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble and Shel Israel. While I understand that it takes a couple of years to put a book together (at least) they didn't mention anything about audio or video blogs....just written ones. I am curious if audio blogs will be more or less effective than written. My guess, those who can do them with great quality and follow the other rules brought up by Robert and Shel will be very successful. By great quality I mean no droning voice, proper inflection in the voice, no stuttering, and keep it short. Nothing longer than 10 minutes (maybe 15 if you have something really interesting). Need an example, take a look here.

Thank you for NOT smoking

Not a smoker, per se, yet occasionally I will enjoy a stogie and a scotch. But, this bit of news was rather unique. There have been several restaurants and night clubs that have banned smoking, and have actually seen an increase in sales. Who would have thought that bowling alleys and pool halls would ever be smoke free...and doing well?

Take a look here for more from the Church of the Customer.
